In a video released on his church's Facebook page, the Warri-based cleric was helped and carried into the church as he struggled to walk unaided. The returning pastor wore a white outfit, along with all his church officials who assisted him. His members all adorned in white as if it were a dress code of sorts. Members, believed to be church workers, carried Victor to the altar and laid him on a white cloth that had already been spread. Members were in a worshipful mood and emotional in the video as Victor was helped to the altar. According to a statement released by his church, Victor embarked on a 21-day dry fast, abstaining from all food, fruit, water, and substances.

Significance of pastor's fast The church further stated that the pastor always embarks on the fast every September, a tradition he has followed for 18 years. On the significance of the pastor's persevering exercise, the church explained that it was a sacrifice for destinies, families and the body of Christ. The church's statement read:  "Today, our man of God, Pastor Victor Great, returned to church after 21 days and 21 nights of dry fasting — no food, water, fruits or substance. "We saw his body weak, but the glory of God shining so strong upon him. The atmosphere was filled with God’s presence.

"For 18 years, every September, he has embarked on this life-risking journey, not for applause or self-glorification but out of willingness and availability to fulfill God’s purpose of closing graves and establishing the altar of life, light, and immortality to bring men and women into the ark of preservation. "This is not just a fast, it is a sacrifice for destinies, families, and the body of Christ. And today, we rejoiced to welcome him back with great thanksgiving."
