Ebenezer Obey Breaks Silence on Fresh Death Rumours, Gives Update on Health Status

Rumours circulated online on Sunday claiming Juju musician Ebenezer Obey had died after suffering a stroke In a new video with his sons, the legendary singer appeared alive and well, singing praises to God Obey described the false report as “lies from the kingdom of darkness” while assuring fans he is healthy. Nigerian music icon Ebenezer Obey has dismissed renewed claims that he passed away after allegedly suffering a stroke.

The 83-year-old Juju music legend, fondly called “Chief Commander,” appeared in a video shared via his Instagram page on Sunday, where he joyfully sang I Have a God Who Never Fails alongside his two sons. The singer laughed off the rumours, insisting he is alive and in good health.

In the clip, the veteran singer expressed displeasure over the false news of his death, describing it as an evil plot. “People of God, ladies and gentlemen, the enemies have come again. I left Lagos this morning for London, and I arrived in London a few hours ago. On arrival, I saw the video that announced again that my ‘enemy’ was dead, my enemy had a stroke, and all the lies they are speaking."

According to him, some even went as far as showing coffins and photos to back the fake report. But Obey declared boldly that none of the lies would ever come to pass. The singer revealed that he only travelled to London for personal care, not because of ill health. He stated: “I don’t have a stroke. I came to London to look after myself. Everything they have said is nothing but lies that came from the kingdom of darkness. I am alive, I am alive, says the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you very much.” This is not the first time rumours about the music legend’s death have circulated. In recent years, Obey has repeatedly had to come out to debunk similar false reports.
