Popular Nigerian gospel singer Yinka Ayefele, via Fresh FM manager, in a statement released on Friday, August 15, confirmed that his radio stations were ravaged by fire. On Friday, videos surfaced online showing a fire burning at Fresh FM, a radio station owned by Ayefele.
The gospel singer, who shared a video of the incident alongside crying emojis, addressed the fire outbreak on his Facebook page. According to the management, two of his radio stations, namely Fresh FM 105.9 and Blast FM 98.3, were affected by the fire. He also disclosed that the fire ravaged nearby offices, including the newsroom, transmitter, server room, and several pieces of equipment during normal operations. Ayefele, who made headlines after showing his new mansion, revealed that efforts to put out the fire with in-house extinguishers before the arrival of professional firefighters proved abortive.
The radio management also extended gratitude to Nigerians who assisted in fighting the fire outbreak. "We can’t immediately quantify the extent of the damage caused by the devastating inferno, the cause of which is also yet to be ascertained presently. We heartily appreciate every good-spirited Nigerians who joined us in fighting the inferno," the statement released by the management read in part.
