Kidnapping Scene: VDM Drags Military, Shares What They Did: “You Would Have Written RIP for Me”

 

Verydarkman recounted his encounter when he stormed a kidnapping scene in Edo State while returning from Ogbelaka The activist had earlier visited the king of Ogbelaka in Edo State to discuss the matter of Dangote’s reckless driver before heading back home He narrated what transpired at the kidnapping scene and also explained how the military treated him when he met them there. Social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has shared details of what happened when he stormed a kidnapping scene in Edo State.

A few days ago, the TikToker released a video showing how he and his team confronted kidnappers in Edo State and rescued a victim who, unfortunately, was left dead. In his latest video, he revealed how he felt betrayed by the military, describing their actions as being “stabbed in the back.”  

According to him, he had gone to see the king of Ogbelaka regarding the major road used by Dangote trucks. He explained that he urged the king to reach out to the billionaire businessman, so the road could be repaired. After their discussion, the king provided him with a driver and a policeman to take him and his team back to their destination, since their original driver had refused to continue with them. After much back and forth, he persuaded the initial driver to still follow them, despite the king’s provision of another driver and a policeman. His driver suggested they take the Akute/Benin road, claiming it was better, although it was a lonely route.

Verydarkman explained that he suspected kidnappers might be operating on the road because of how quiet it was. After driving for a while, they saw cars and buses turning back and warning that kidnappers were ahead, but he insisted that they would not turn back. He instructed the policeman with them to fire shots into the air to scare off the kidnappers and assist victims in distress. While doing so, they encountered a military convoy, which also fired shots into the air to scare the kidnappers. He said he was initially relieved, believing a rescue team had arrived. 

However, to his shock, the military convoy drove away immediately after his own convoy reached the scene, without stopping to check on victims or confront the kidnappers. He lamented that if the kidnappers had come out of hiding, he and his team would have been overpowered, since they only had one policeman with a gun. According to him, the soldiers abandoned their primary duty of protecting lives and instead prioritised the safety of the VIP in their entourage.

He added that he donated all the money given to him by the king for fuel towards the victim’s treatment, also sharing a screenshot of the man’s skull and the doctor’s report. VDM speaks on social media behaviour Criticising the people who gathered at the scene, he said they were more interested in recording videos than helping the victim. He explained that he had to scream at them to put down their phones and focus on saving a life. It would be recalled that Verydarkman has remained vocal about national issues. A few months ago, he was seen renovating a primary school as part of his activism.
