Real Madrid Star Kylian Mbappe Breaks 33-Year Record With Superb Hat-Trick vs Barcelona

Kylian Mbappe set a new Real Madrid record with 39 goals in his debut season, surpassing the legendary Ivan Zamorano The French forward scored a hat-trick in El Clasico, but his side still fell 4-3 to Barcelona on Sunday afternoon (May 11) Mbappe currently leads the La Liga scoring charts with 26 goals this season and is eyeing the Golden Boot award in Spain. Kylian Mbappe claimed a piece of Real Madrid's illustrious history in El Clasico on Sunday (May 11), scoring a hat-trick against Barcelona that lit up one of football’s fiercest rivalries and cemented his place in the history books.

With three goals at the Estadi Olímpic Lluis Companys, the French forward increased his tally to 39 goals across all competitions this season and set a new record for the most goals by a Los Blancos player in their debut campaign. Mbappe has also surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut campaign tally of 33 goals after his 2009 transfer from Manchester United. Moving from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, the 25-year-old Frenchman made an immediate and dominant impact in Spain.

El Clasico drama: Goals, records, no victory Despite Mbappe’s brilliance, Real Madrid were unable to come away with the win, falling 4-3 to Barcelona in a pulsating El Clasico encounter, as reported by IOL. The Frenchman gave Los Blancos a perfect start with a penalty in the fifth minute before adding his second just nine minutes later, before Barca flipped the script. The Catalans responded with four goals before half-time through Eric Garcia, Lamine Yamal, and a brace from Raphinha, leaving the hosts ahead by 4-2 at the break.

In the second half, Mbappe completed his hat-trick, securing his third treble for Real Madrid. However, it was not enough, as Barcelona held firm to secure a crucial win in the trophy race. Real Madrid are seven points adrift of their rivals, who top the standings in Spain, with just three matches to play, making it almost impossible for them to reclaim the La Liga crown. Mbappe leading for La Liga Golden Boot While the league title may be slipping out of Real Madrid’s grasp, Mbappe’s form remains a silver lining for the iconic Spanish club.
